...establishes a wonderful line between being friendly, kind and honest; and being efficiently ruthless when necessary.
Having specialised in this area of the law since qualification in 1992, I have had wide experience in all of the medical specialities and have particular experience of cases of maximum and catastrophic injury, including brain injury.
I am recognised by all the major legal directories as one of the leading clinical negligence lawyers in the UK.
I founded and organise Special Lives, a support group for over 150 families with disabled children. In dealing with investigations for these children it became clear that there was a real need for families to have information on a whole range of issues and to have a chance to share experiences and that is what the group aims to provide, whether families are successful in a claim or not. Their needs remain the same.
A significant number of my cases involve children with a brain injury, as a result I have developed an interest in special educational needs and community care issues.
Other work has included numerous investigations involving injury to both mother and baby during pregnancy and delivery, an area of special interest to me. I have also undertaken many investigations in respect of women’s healthcare, including cases involving delays in diagnosis and treatment of cervical and breast cancer and injuries arising during gynaecological surgical procedures. I have successfully concluded many cases in these fields, recovering many millions of pounds of compensation for clients.
The remainder of my work covers a variety of medical specialities and a range of different injuries of varying severity.
Memberships include the Law Society and Action against Medical Accidents (AVMA) Specialist Panels. I am a Senior Litigator member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.
Graduating from Southampton University and achieving a first in the Law Society finals at Guildford College of Law, I joined the firm in 1992, was made an associate in 1995 and a partner in 1998.
I am married with 2 young children and live in Upper Bucklebury in Berkshire. My leisure interests include having fun with my children, gardening, and occasional DIY!
